Trong Part 5, câu từ vựng (bốn đáp án cùng từ loại, khác nghĩa) chiếm một phần đáng kể, ở nhiều đề lên tới khoảng một phần ba. Với người 500–650 điểm, đây là nhóm câu khó tăng điểm nhất, vì không có quy tắc "nhìn hai bên ô trống". Nhưng nó vẫn có cách giải. Phần lớn các câu từ vựng kiểm tra collocation, tức từ nào hay đi với từ nào, chứ không chỉ kiểm tra nghĩa.
Chiến thuật 3 lớp
- Collocation: tìm từ đi kèm ngay cạnh ô trống. ____ a deadline → meet. ____ qualified → highly.
- Giới từ đi kèm: nhiều đáp án cùng nghĩa nhưng chỉ một từ đi được với giới từ trong câu. ____ for the position → eligible (không phải capable, vì capable of).
- Ngữ cảnh: khi lớp 1 và 2 chưa đủ, đọc cả câu và chọn nghĩa hợp nhất.

Cả bốn đều là tính từ. Lớp 2: capable đi với of, loại (C). Ba từ còn lại đều đi được với for: available for (sẵn có, rảnh để), eligible for (đủ điều kiện hưởng), responsible for (chịu trách nhiệm). Lớp 3: nhân viên làm đủ 2 năm thì đủ điều kiện nhận thưởng → (B) eligible. Giới từ giúp loại bớt, nhưng vẫn phải đọc nghĩa để chốt.
